On August 24, six Russian outdoor sports enthusiasts drifted into distress at the Yulong Kashi River in Hetian, Xinjiang. After a hard search of more than 600 people from the China-Russia Joint Search and Rescue Team and more than 600 local villagers for nearly half a month, on September 21, two rafters survived a miracle after 25 days of trekking in the wild. Three people were killed and one was missing.
On September 25, doctors in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Xinjiang Hetian People s Hospital kept complaining about two disobedient patients. They refused to do B-mode ultrasounds, chest radiographs, and abdominal radiographs, and considered themselves healthy. Because they had not eaten for a long time before, the album in index of the two was low, but they were not willing to infusion supplement. The milk and ravioli provided for breakfast remained unchanged, and the hospital had to get it back as it was.
Two Russians, 35-year-old Zverev and 28-year-old Potov, and four teammates were in distress while rafting on the Hetian Yulong Kashi River. They lived alone in a high-altitude, bare land for 25 days and were separated by China and Russia. Joint search and rescue team found. Except for dehydration and malnutrition, their vital signs were normal. As a result of multiple enemas, doctors only found a small amount of green fiber in Zverev s stomach, and Paulov s stomach was empty.
According to the two, they did not eat anything, including weeds, except for river water within 25 days. High altitude, no man s land, great temperature difference between day and night, hunger, loneliness, rescue fashion can be so incredible , said Miao Xinrong, deputy director of Hetian District People s Hospital.
The road is long and obstructive. This is a barren land, with an average altitude of more than 3,000 meters, the temperature can reach more than 30 degrees Celsius during the day, and below -5 degrees Celsius at night. On the fourth day, the altitude was 5,100 meters. Except for two local villager guides and an elderly explorer, the remaining five had altitude sickness.
Beside the puppet, the Yulong Kashi River zigzags down. The Yulong Kashi River, which originated from a glacier on the northern slope of the Kunlun Mountains, is located in the Hotan region of Xinjiang. It has a total length of 513 kilometers, a drop of up to more than 4,000 meters, and is dangerous along the way. From June to September each year, the weather is warm and snowy, and the turbulent river water carries the weathered jade fragments of the Kunlun Mountains down. Because it produces Hetian jade , it is also known as Baiyu River.
A spleen river, once engulfed many jade collectors. Prior to this, no one has been involved in rafting. At the time of the flood, six Russians were determined to challenge it.
Six days later, when the scheduled rafting starting point, Red Beach on the upper reaches of the river, was reached, the two guides again advised before leaving, but the six Russians decided to go.
Among the 6 people, 47-year-old real estate businessman Cherniko Shalegues is the oldest and the youngest is his 25 son, Cherniko Jr. Old Cherniko is a well-known rafting athlete in Russia. He has won international and domestic awards many times . He almost rafted on Russian rivers. Player Batov is an employee of the old Cherniko company.
As a fitness instructor, Zverev is also a rafting enthusiast who has drifted through the steep rivers in Turkey and Tajikistan. The other two, 34-year-old Tishchenko and 25-year-old Smetanikov, are also considered experienced drifters by the Russians.
Six people were linked because of old Cherniko. In August last year, Zhang Hong, a Urumqi native, took five Russians to climb near the Yulong Kashi River. One of the climbers, Anton, was an old friend and gave him information about the Yulong Kashi River. Old cut and everyone jointly decided on this rafting plan.
Zverev did not know that he needed to apply for drifting here: Zhang Hong didn t tell us. This brought great difficulties to subsequent search and rescue.
This place is not suitable for rafting at all. Because rescue personnel cannot be reached in this area, rescue is almost impossible, said Nan Guoheng, president of the Xinjiang Mountaineering Association and a later member of the search and rescue team.
Tzverev later believed that the first and biggest mistake they made was that they did not estimate the water volume correctly. It was during the flood that the river rushed down.
After drifting for four days and going down for about 150 kilometers, at 5 pm on August 24th, on a deep V-shaped river surface, two boats successively descended the rapids, and the kayak capsized. Zichenko and Butov on their boat fell into the water, and Cherniko and his son climbed onto the boat. There may be injuries. The two clung to the boat and struggled on it. Zverev and Smetanikov also fell into the water. Except for Cherniko and his sons, the other four struggled out of the roundabout and landed on the lower reaches of the river. They could not wait for the father and son of Che to follow.
According to Shi Zhengyi, the captain of the special service squadron of the five armed police detachment who later participated in the rescue, three of the ten aluminum alloy balance bars on both sides of the kayak on which the Che s father and son were riding were strongly bent, with a degree of bending of 30 degrees Of the two oars, one was broken and the other was smashed.
Except for small personal items, the four were empty-handed, without food and medicine. The GPS, tents, sleeping bags and other wild supplies that came with the eight donkeys were all lost. Butov was also injured in both feet.
There is no way, although I don t know what is waiting for us in the front, but in this no-man s land, I can only go forward. Four people decided to go down hungry.
Unlike the plain, the Yulong Kashi River is located in a deep and steep canyon, and the roads on both sides are difficult. Later search and rescue team members spent nearly 3 hours on a 350-meter-long steep slope, and the photographers who went there lamented that life is better than death.
After walking for a day and a half, the four people advanced 5 kilometers downstream. Later Zverev believed that his identity as a fitness instructor saved his life. Zverev believes that since there is no food, you can t eat indiscriminately, cannot break the balance of physical functions.
As far as the eye can see, there is a bare mountain range, only scattered weeds can be seen by the river. Even weeds cannot be eaten. First, I don t know if they can be eaten. Second, it is best not to eat anything, so that the body can balance itself.
On the afternoon of August 26, at the bank of a river, they saw two kayaks, and the still-moving father and son of Che. The boat is two or three meters from the shore. Lao Qie lies on the boat, her head buried in the water, and Xiao Qie lies on the shore. They are dead. Zverev said.
Anyway, the situation has changed again. They re-established a boat with some food and medicine on board. After discussion, they decided to drift down again.
The same thing happened again. On another deep V-shaped water surface, on August 28, four people were in distress again. Zverev got pity again and soon came ashore, but no one else was visible.
In order to find others, Zverev walked more than 20 meters downstream and saw that Tishenko and Smetanikov, like the father and son of Che before, were spinning on a ship surrounded by rapids. Zverev On the shore, I can t help it. An hour later, Tyshenko fell into the water, and then Smetanikov fell into the water, and the water immediately swept away the two.
Tzverev failed to meet Paulov. Only after 24 days, the two were rescued and reunited. Talking about the situation in the past, they knew that the two were on the banks of the river at that time, but they were separated by dozens of meters .
Master He Peng, a taxi driver of Xunhetian, recalled that around September 3, a man calling himself a guide rented his car and went to the Buya Mountain in the lower reaches of the Yulong Kashi River, waiting at a mouth of Sancha River in Kashta Township.
