What are the characteristics of so many red cultural resources in Shanghai

The site of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the former site of the editorial department of the new youth, the martyr cemetery of Longhua Shanghai is the witness of the birth and growth of China, with red gene flowing in its blood. As one of the birthplaces of Chinese revolution and the spiritual home of human beings, how can Shanghai better explore and develop red cultural resources? Recently, Xin Ping, President of Shanghai Communist Party History Society and professor of Shanghai University, was invited to the study and reading conference to share his research and Thinking on this issue.
Xin Ping said that the red culture contains rich revolutionary feelings and cultural connotations. In Shanghai, the place where people first started, it is necessary to deeply explore the revolutionary culture and tell the “red story” of Shanghai. China was born in Shanghai in 1921, and it is inevitable for Shanghai to become the party’s “production house”. He believes that Shanghai has six conditions: a special political and geographical pattern, Shanghai is located at the midpoint of China’s coastline, backed by the Yangtze River, which is naturally open; Shanghai takes immigrants as the main body, and openness and innovation are the temperament of Shanghai people; Shanghai is the economic center of the country; Shanghai has convenient work , production and living conditions; Shanghai is also the center of emerging culture. China’s early films and plays were born in Shanghai, and the publishing industry developed in Shanghai, especially in the dissemination of Marxist works. Shanghai has made great contributions; Shanghai has been recognized by the representatives of the Communist International.
“What is red cultural resources? It refers to the sites, cultural relics, people’s former residences and revolutionary sites bearing the revolutionary spirit formed in the historical process of leading the Chinese people to independence, liberation and prosperity. ” According to statistics, Shanghai has 657 revolutionary sites and 440 existing ones, Xinping said. Since 2016, about 770 million yuan has been invested at the municipal and district levels in Shanghai, and 18 memorial halls for the lost revolutionary sites have been completed and opened, totaling 458. It can be said that the red gene penetrates the deep blood of the prosperous city. Since then, China has marched from Shanghai, passing Jinggangshan, Ruijin, Zunyi, Yan’an, Xibaipo and other places all the way to the country. The Party Central Committee has been stationed in Shanghai for a long time, so it is inevitable that Shanghai has so many red cultural resources.
At the scene of the activity, Xin Ping particularly introduced the “red one square kilometer” centered on the site of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China, starting from Shunchang Road in the East, Sinan road in the west, Yan’an Road in the north and Hefei Road in the south. Within this square kilometer, there are more than ten revolutionary sites, which together constitute the “red source” of a great political party. Huangpu District and Hongkou District have stepped up their efforts to tap red resources and further build “Shanghai culture” brand.
What are the characteristics of red cultural resources in Shanghai? Xin Ping believes that, first of all, Shanghai’s red cultural resources are concentrated in a single area with the highest level. For example, the Longhua martyr cemetery in Xuhui is the martyr cemetery with the largest number of sacrifices and the highest level of victims in China. Secondly, Shanghai culture is closely connected with Jiangnan culture and Shanghai culture. Openness, inclusiveness and innovation belong to history and also cover the present. He also said that Shanghai’s red resources are also systematic and integrated. Because of this, there is still a lot of room to dig.
It is also very important to inherit the red cultural resources of Shanghai and learn the history of the party, the new China and the reform and opening up. “At present, the red cultural resources are mainly concentrated in the revolutionary period, while the reform and opening-up of new China is equally important and memorable for Shanghai and the whole country. At present, there are still some deficiencies in the research, development and utilization of red cultural resources in Shanghai. ” Xin Ping said that there are many “red stories” worth telling about Shanghai’s red cultural resources.
