Several Provisions on Registration of Marriage between Chinese Citizens and Foreigners is a statute approved and implemented by the State Council of China in 1983. According to the Decision of the State Council on Abolishing Certain Administrative Regulations State Council Order No. 516, this provision has been repealed. Replaced by the Marriage Registration Ordinance, which came into effect in 2003.

25. All Chinese citizens and foreigners who have the required documents and meet these requirements may apply to the marriage registration authority with the documents and photos of both men and women. After examination and understanding by the marriage registration authority, registration was granted in accordance with the Marriage Law of the People s Republic of China and these regulations. Registration procedures were completed within one month and a marriage certificate was issued. 26. Chinese citizens and foreigners who request a divorce in China shall file a divorce proceeding with the People ’s Court in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Civil Procedure Law of the People’ s Republic of China (Trial).
